Final reflection
As a final reflection, I think I have worked hard this term, attending my classes whenever I was able to, participating and doing the proposed activities. Furthermore, I have worked very hard on my project, researching, doing blog posts, experimenting, etc. Being critical, I believe I could have participated more in class, compared to other terms.
I believe I have reflected the process of my project into my blog correctly as well, showing sketches, my mistakes, reflections, etc. And as stated in other posts, the major issues I ran into was with the materials. The vinyl turned out to be a major failure. As well, I tried two different brands of foam, and the first one left too many holes and was less smooth when carved. I used this one for the main body. After that, I tried the second brand, Polycell, for the top, bottom and back of the dress, with much better results; smoother surface and less holes.
Furthermore, I am not 100% satisfied with the shape of the dress since the bottom part does not resemble my sketches, it is too small and closed compared to the butterfly shape I was looking to achieve.
On the other hand, I am happy with the final result of my portfolio and my web. I believe the portfolio truly shows the concept of the collection and suits it as well. And even though I am pleased with how my 2D designs turned out, I have to admit that I do not think I drew the material correctly, as I wanted it to look like the vinyl I bought, very black but reflective at the same time.
In general, I am happy with my project, my work and my progress throughout the term and the whole course, but I realise as well that I have things to improve in the future.
