This is a welcome post to mark the beginning of my third and last term at DMUIC using this blog. For the next months, I will continue to use this address for my Art Portfolio class, where I will be developing new projects.
In my last welcome post, I talked about Bosch as it was an inspiration for me at the time since I had recently visited the Prado museum, where I saw Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights paintings. During these past few weeks, I have not visited any museum, since I came back to the UK from Spain and I have been self-isolating. But I have been painting and playing video games. I have been particularly inspired by a game that my friend Sergio and I have been playing. It is called Dark Souls III and I feel especially attracted to the aesthetic and visuals of the game.

It has a very dark and lugubrious appearance, with shadows and mist everywhere. This, along with one of my currently favourite songs, inspired me to make a painting. The song is called Aunque digan que yo by Recycled J, and the phrase that marked me the most was " Si no hay nada dime a que rezo" which translates to " If there is nothing, what do I pray to", referring to the uncertainty of agnosticism.
Combining the videogame and the song lyric I created an inspiration board with a quick sketch as well to organise my ideas and have a clear view of the style I was looking to use:
And here is how the painting is going so far:
Reflecting on my work from last term, I believe that I did not do enough research or work on my blog, so that is what I am looking forward to improving.

Maybe pick up on this research you have already started when considering your project theme for this term (we will go through this in detail tomorrow). Your comment about your blog is correct - remember the majority of marks will be on your blog, if you can stay up to date and develop your research practise over this term, you should be able to improve on last terms mark.
