Lecture: David Bowie
This week's lecture was about David Bowie. First, we looked at his influence and later on we saw his works.
Apart from being a musician, he experimented with other mediums such as sculpting, drawing and writing. Heis known for his theatrical shows as well. His paintings can be included in the expressionist movement.
I did not know that he painted and sculpted, so this lecture was a very pleasant surprise for me. I enjoy the way he uses art to express himself, but expressionist paintings are not my favourite. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the lecture and learning about him.
Squeeze 2000 (1996)
As well and thanks to further research I did, I learnt that he used his art for studies as well, creating preparatory drawings for different projects such as an unrealised film set in Hunger City, 1974.
The rape of Bigarshol (1996)
Even though I mentioned earlier that I do not enjoy expressionism very much, the more I explore through David Bowie's art the more I like it, specially these latter paintings.
